DePaul University College of Law is centered in the heart of downtown Chicago, providing its students with a rich and dynamic urban setting. DePaul University is the nation’s largest Catholic university and among the largest private universities in the nation, as well as one of the largest private universities in Illinois. The College of Law is fully accredited by the ABA, is a member of AALS and Order of the Coif, and offers full-time, part-time, and summer programs. The law school is within walking distance of the state and federal courts, a variety of government offices, and numerous corporations and law firms.

Chicago has tons of ways to be involved beyond just the college. DePaul University wants applicants that are also good ambassadors for the school – they want students who will give back to the local community and broader Chicago area in general. In 2019, the average high school GPA of DePaul’s incoming freshmen class was 3.7, and over 48% of incoming students had average GPAs of 3.75 and above. These results suggest that most successful applicants to DePaul University have primarily A grades. Transfer students may earn advanced standing credit by transferring credits earned from coursework completed at other colleges/universities. As you can see, your chances of getting admitted drop significantly with a GPA below 3.75, and again below 3.50.

So if you’re applying to DePaul with a lower GPA, you’ll want to be a good test-taker and submit your ACT and/or SAT scores as well. If you change majors, double major, or add minors, you are still expected to complete your program within 288 credit hours. Regarding these credits, however, every university has its own policy. The benefits of taking such programs include a shorter time to obtain a degree, a higher GPA, and increased chances of completing the degree. Students who want to avail AP and CLEP credits are recommended to visit collegeboard.org and ask them to submit the scores to the university of their choice.
