Should a common area within a residence hall be damaged, persons responsible will be billed for damages if they can be identified; otherwise a common fee may be assessed to all whom reside within that specific building. Each resident is permitted one complimentary lockout, where a University representative will grant access to the student’s assigned room. You may be able to leave your residence halls until further notice. It is up to each student to decorate and maintain his/her room. It is also the student’s responsibility, in cooperation with his/her roommate, to keep the living environment clean and attractive. First-time students must submit their deposit and housing application in order to receive a housing assignment. Students who submitted after the stated deadline will receive housing assignments on a first-come basis. Any student who wishes to live on campus the following academic year must submit a housing application by the stated deadline. Housing and Residence Life will then work with the students to keep them informed of the process and related next steps. Only those students who completed an application by March 10 and submitted their deposit can participate in the housing selection process. If we implement a shelter in place declaration, students must remain on campus.
If you do not make a selection by this time and are required to live in housing next year, you will be placed based on availability and at the Director of Housing and Residence Life’s discretion. Once you receive your housing time slot, check out which of your roommates has the earliest one. That person should log in at their time and make a housing orglink shsu selection and confirm the roommate group. The housing selection process is 100% online and student-led this year. The entire process takes place on eRezLife, with notifications being sent to your email address. A member of the Housing and Residence Life professional staff will oversee the packing and moving of all students items in each room.
