Let’s say you want to be healthier, and you’ve read a lot of different articles or research papers about what improves health. The truth is, there are probably a million and seven ways a person could become healthier in a million and seven different ways. You may not know until you start trying things, and begin why take salt before a workout keeping track of what works and how, and what doesn’t work and why. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and visualize yourself, your goal achieved, in as much detail as you can. Really get into it and imagine exactly what it feels like to have achieved your goal. Think about how you knew you could do it all along.

These include lean proteins like grilled chicken, salmon, and turkey breast; low-fat dairy items including milk, cheeses, and eggs; healthy fats like avocado and olives; and grains and legumes such as beans, chickpeas, and quinoa. Noom has been featured in the New York Times, Women’s Health, Shape, Forbes, and more, and we’ve already helped millions of people worldwide achieve their health goals (a not-so-humble brag). Amy tried to work closely with the cases she was assigned to.

Real, meaningful, lifelong change that becomes part of who you are takes a bit of time, and that can require some patience. To get the most out of the Noom app and meet your health goals, you’ll want to log all of your food and your water intake and how much exercise you’re getting. You’ll also want to be consistent about meal planning and regularly communicate with your coach. Noom is not your typical fad diet, though some might think of Noom as a fad since it’s a relatively new weight loss platform. But the difference is in the holistic approach—instead of promising rapid weight loss in just a couple of weeks or less, Noom guarantees lifelong weight management through renewed healthy habits.

I did not join to look great in a bathing suit. It wasn’t easy, but it’s been my most interesting and educational diet journey to date. Noom isn’t for everyone, especially if you don’t want to be tethered to a phone. On top of all of this, Noom has a step counter, so as long as your phone is on you all day, you’ll know just how many total steps you took.

In February, the Wall Street Journal reported that Noom was valued at $4.2 billion in May 2021, and late last year it expected its 2021 revenue to total more than $600 million. It was even circling the possibility of an initial public offering for early 2022, with a prospective valuation of $10 billion. By creating an account, you accept our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Maybe you want to achieve something—run a 5K or eat more vegetables or start meditating for ten minutes a day. If you have a fixed mindset, you likely see all the obstacles standing between you and your goal and then struggle to see a path around them. If you have a growth mindset, you’ll recognize that there are some obstacles, but you’ll also believe that you can figure them out. You know that the power to achieve your goal comes from you, not from somebody else. If you scored between sixteen and twenty-six, you have pretty good self-efficacy, but you could gain even more self-confidence about your ability to achieve your goals. Are you polite to others, even when they aren’t so polite to you?

This study was limited, however, in that it didn’t compare Noom to another diabetes diet, so it’s hard to make any conclusions about Noom over another diet plan. Another 2016 study—this one on the National Diabetes Prevention Program—found that the participants all showed significant weight loss after 16 and 24 weeks of using Noom. Amanda Capritto, ACE-CPT, INHC, is an advocate for simple health and wellness. She writes about nutrition, exercise and overall well-being. At the end of your journey, you’ll have earned the title of Noom Master and have a set of healthy habits to help you keep the weight off for good and lead a healthier, more fulfilling life. Shortly after the HuffPost article came out, Amy transitioned from full-time to part-time.
