Situated in the lively neighbourhood of El Poblado, Hostel Rango Boutique is within easy reach of many bars, restaurants, and sights. Medellin is quickly being known as a trendy, vibrant city with excellent nightlife, shopping, and weather, all while shedding its reputation as Pablo Escobar’s murder capital of the world. The main attractions include Belén Park and the nearby Pueblito Paisa. Laureles, Comuna 13, the metro cable cars, and other areas of interest are also quite close-by. The scenic viewpoint hike called Cerro de las Tres Cruces is also found just outside this neighborhood.
Whilst El Poblado is the most popular destination for tourists – and contains the Zona Rosa for nightlife – Laureles is just as safe but has a much more local feel! This makes it our top pick for nightlife as you get to discover a more authentic side to how Medellín residents party, rather than the touristy version elsewhere. Wedged just east of the Industriales and Poblado metro stations, Barrio Colombia and Ciudad del Río have quickly become places to be. By day, Barrio Colombia is very much a graffiti art-draped warehouse district – primarily colored with automotive shops as well as one of the best malls and coffee shops in town . By night, you’ll find some of the city’s most bumping clubs, including the LGBTIQ+-friendly Industry Club and Discoteca Amarna.
Love the blog guys, loved staying at Guido’s place in Busuwanga! We are heading to Medellin in the new year and I had a quick question on the neighbourhoods. The neighborhood we really didn’t like was Northeastern Laureles and the ones we really like were Central Envigado , El Dorado (1.5 months), and Lower Poblado . Planning my trip to Colombia for this february and looks like ill be staying in Central Envigado! Central Poblado has a decent little outdoor workout area, but most people stick to working out (and checking each-others’ spandex onesies) inside in the area’s many fitness centers. In Laureles there are a couple of big outdoor workout areas like this, a huge sports complex, and Cerro Volador, a tree-covered mountain.

The hostel sources furnishings and décor from local designers and has an eco-friendly conscious. Novotel are a well known luxury hotel brand across the world, and their Medellín hotel is based in the centre of the largest tourist area in the city! What really sells this hotel is the gorgeous pool terrace where you can marvel at the surrounding mountains and skyscrapers. Patio Bonito is a sub-neighborhood connected to the very popular El Poblado district. Unlike its neighbor, Patio Bonito is quieter and boasts a plethora of hip restaurants, bars, and coffee spots.
I can accept living in a neighborhood with less western amenities if it means getting cleaner air to breath. It’s definitely a relaxed, friendly part of town with good people and good food. It takes some time to warm up to and find your way around, but when you do it’ll hopefully live up to your expectations. El Dorado in Envigado has tahiti vs bora bora vs fiji its own field and outdoor workout area called La Cancha, and it’s within walking distance of another sports complex, the Estadio Polideportivo Sur. Generally, all of Medellin is a lot safer than most people think, but we wouldn’t advise people to walk along quiet areas like this bridge in El Poblado by themselves late at night.
The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, with a mini bar, private bathroom and TV included. You also get all the basic luxuries like air conditioning, hot water showers, and large, comfortable beds. Yes, El Poblado is the best neighborhood in the city, especially when it comes to high-end resorts. Rango Hostel Boutique – Probably the best backpacker hostel in Medellín.
